And the manual tells us that we should put a"tftp" directory besides VirtualBox.xml. On windows 7, VirtualBox.xml is in C:\Users<your username>.VirtualBox\ . (VirtualBox version 5.1.14, the manual doesn't say that default configuration location is changed after 4.0 ) When I read the section, I was trying to PXE boot install a Debian system.

Im running Virtualbox on a Ubuntu 12.04 server (host) and I'm running a Windows 7 as guest os. Im using the (virtual) Intel PRO/1000 MT network card. I get good network performance for download using both nat and bridged network settings but upload speed is really slow using nat.

Change Virtualbox settings to bridged and use VB's recommended settings. In the Linux guest, via the command line as root / sudo, run nmtui which will bring up a user interface. Of the 3 options select"Activate a connection" and choose the name of the network adapter that VB assigned to the guest.

There are several well known full virtualization productions such as KVM, Xen, and Vmware while container prodcutions includes lxc and OpenVZ. Proxmox only supports KVM and OpenVZ at the moment. So I think your problem is the same as"how to convert a KVM VM to virtualbox or vmware VM".

There is a VirtualBox Manager GUI, both for Linux and for Windows version. I use it all the time on my Debian (just running 'virtualbox' opens up the GUI interface).

The first step of this, of course, is to put the existing image on the VM, and in order to do that, I need to PXE boot the VM. This is failing on Virtualbox on a Windows host, Virtualbox on a Mac host, and VMWare Workstation on a Windows host, but I am able to PXE boot a physical computer and image it with no issues. The VM does get a valid IP.

Windows is pretty easy to clone to virtual machine with Microsoft tool called Disk2vhd.You can do it on a running Windows system as I did with my Windows 2008 server.

Or cd to the C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox directory, then: VBoxManage.exe list hdds Or you can add add the C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox directory to your PATH :
